Reasons to love my new camera. Sorry - OUR new camera.

IMG_0561

We took the camera and the kids to Broulee on the South Coast last weekend.  We took about 200 photos, and over the last couple of days PJ has been going through all of those plus the several hundred other photos we've taken since we got our new camera, and deleting anything that wasn't in focus or didn't meet his extremely high standards.  He deleted a few that I want back - I'm not sure what degree of 'deleted' they are but some photos should be kept, even if they do make your butt look big.

These photos were taken with our new camera, the Canon EOS 450d (Rebel XSi to the rest of the world) with the 70-200mm f/2.8L series IS USM lens.  I love this lens.  LOVE IT.  Look at the crab.  He was hiding, half-dead, under some seaweed and I gave him a nudge and he posed nicely for this shot.  PJ took it.  Check out that depth of field.  LOVE IT.

This is Ella, moments after she came a'cropper in the waves.  I had the camera on Madeleine at the time, and I have a shot of her with an expression on her face that said 'oh no, look what just happened, actually, that's kinda funny.'  I glanced across at Ella who by then was standing up again, but oh, the look on her face (one of the ones PJ deleted!).  I love that you can see the water dripping off her fingertips in this picture.  I'm sorry you can't see her face, it really was priceless.  PJ, harbinger of good taste and our children's dignity, deleted it.  Anyway, I went and got her a towel as soon as I'd put the camera safely back in it's bag.  She wasn't cold for very long.  Honest.
